2024–2025

The Katz Center’s 2024–25 fellowship year is devoted to the study of Jews and Health. The vibrant cohort hails from Europe, Israel, and the US, and the fellows bring to the theme of the year a wide scope of perspectives and expertises. Projects range from studies of the imperial management of the plague in early modern central Europe, to the legislation of metal health in Antiquity, to the use of illness metaphors in Hebrew literature, to the role of physicians as information brokers along the silk roads.

The theme gives the Center an opportunity to explore the intersection between bodies and systems, language and physicality, religion and science, and much beyond. Please check out our website later this summer for information about our online public programs, campus lectures, and other opportunities to benefit from this intellectual community.
