In line with its mission to advance new research, the Katz Center supports scholars and their work in a number of ways. The oldest and most important form of such support is an international fellowship program that brings to the Center each year 20–25 scholars from around the world to pursue research on a particular theme. More recently, the Center has developed initiatives to promote the study of unpublished manuscripts and archival resources in Penn’s collections, and to encourage a deeper understanding of Jewish philanthropic practice past and present.
The Katz Center aims to provide scholars with the time and resources they need to produce new research, to encourage intellectual community and collaboration, and to foster an integrated approach to knowledge by bringing together scholars from different disciplines within and beyond Jewish studies.
