Rethinking Americanization and the Yiddish Press
Bio
Ayelet Brinn is a historian of American Jewish culture, and her research examines the history of American Jewish print. At the Katz Center, Brinn will focus on the role of Yiddish presses in Americanizing their readers, particularly between the 1920s and 1970s.
Brinn received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania with a dissertation titled “Miss Amerike: The Yiddish Press’s Encounter with the United States, 1885–1924.” She most recently held a Rabin-Shvidler Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship in Jewish Studies at Columbia University and Fordham University.
