Please join us for a thoughtful presentation by Israeli psychoanalyst Itamar Lurie on his work with Palestinians. Having worked with the NGO ERICE: Israeli-Palestinian Coalition for the Treatment of Children in Trauma as well as with individual patients, he will reflect on the trust building process that is required in both organizational and clinical settings, and on the complications entailed in the resurgence of charged emotional responses to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As he explains, these psychoanalytic encounters allow for a growing sense of intimacy while providing space for dealing with warded off emotions and irrational expectations vis-à-vis the “other side.”
