Bio

Ruth Karras is Professor of History at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include the history of women, gender, and sexuality in medieval Europe. She authored From Boys to Men: Formations of Masculinity in Late Medieval Europe (2003); Sexuality in Medieval Europe: Doing Unto Others (2006); and Unmarriages: Women, Men, and Sexual Unions in Medieval Europe (forthcoming). At the Center, Karras investigates how medieval Jews understood their masculinity and how Christian elites understood Jewish masculinity in return.
