Bio

Anita Shapira is the Ruben Merenfeld Professor for the Study of Zionism at Tel Aviv University and the director of the Chaim Weizmann Institute for the Study of Zionism and Israel. She is one of the world's leading scholars of Zionism and the history of modern Israel. She is the author of numerous books and articles about Israeli culture, history and ideology. She was recently awarded the Zalman Shazar Award in Jewish History for her book, Yigal Allon: The Spring of his Life. Dr. Shapira is currently the Ellie and Herbert D. Katz Distinguished Fellow and the Rose and Henry Zifkin Teaching Fellow at the Center for Advanced Judaic Studies.
