Bio
Reuven Snir is a professor of Arabic language and literature at the University of Haifa. He researches Arabic poetry, prose, and theatre, the history and culture of Arab-Jews, Hebrew literature of Arabs and Oriental Jews, and Muslim asceticism and mysticism. He was previously a senior news editor at Voice of Israel, and is currently the general editor at al-Karmil ― Studies in Arabic Language and Literature.
Snir received his PhD in Arabic Language & Literature from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has taught at Tel Aviv University and the University of Haifa. In 2014, he received the Tchernichovsky Prize in translation.
