Bio

Christian Wiese is the Martin Buber Chair in Jewish Religious Philosophy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt-am-Main. Previously, he was professor of Jewish history and director of the Centre for German-Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex. His area of research is modern Jewish history and culture, Jewish thought in the modern period, and the history of Jewish Christian relations. Currently, he is writing a biography of the Zionist journalist and politician Robert Weltsch.

Wiese earned his PhD from the Goethe University in Frankfurt-am-Main and his Habilitation in Jewish studies from Erfurt University.
