We are thrilled to announce the arrival of two dynamic new staff members: Marci Seder joined the staff this summer as the Academic Programs Coordinator, in which role she will be the main point of contact for all our fellows and will additionally administer fellowship programming. Her past work experience, most recently as a coordinator of an international au pair organization, prepares her well for the Katz Center’s own international scholarly family that convenes here every fall.

Marci lives just around the corner, and “loves living in Philadelphia!” She is the mom of two active boys and two active Goldendoodles (if you look out the window into the Rose Garden you may see her walking the dogs). In addition to her love of travel with her family, Marci is a passionate advocate for shelter animals and volunteers at the local SPCA in her free time.

We are also delighted to welcome Kathryn Maxwell as the new Design and Communication Coordinator. Katie is responsible for the visual face that Center presents to the world, getting the word out about all our programming in a range of media from social media to print.

Katie comes to us from the Library Company where she served in a similar role, bringing an artist’s eye to the historical archives. In one project she drew portraits based on damaged daguerreotypes in the Library Company’s collections, and wrote about the process and described what it taught her here.

In her spare time, Katie is a fine artist and illustrator whose “whimsical realism” is inspired in part by her time spent in the Wissahickon Valley Park—see here Creek Serpent (soft pastel on black paper).
