The great Solomon Schechter did not just give his name to Jewish day schools—he was a vibrant personality, remarkable scholar and essayist, prime excavator of the Cairo Geniza, and visionary chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. To mark the centenary of his death in 1915 and celebrate his still-powerful legacy, the Katz Center will convene scholars as well as institutional and communal leaders to reflect on his career and its impact on the American Jewish landscape.
