Nathanael Riemer is a professor in the Jewish and religious studies departments at the University of Potsdam. His main research examines the material cultures of Judaism. While at the Katz Center, he will focus on the extant inscriptions on Jewish houses in Germany from the Middle Ages onward, situating them within their construction contexts and Judaism’s material culture.
Riemer received his PhD from the University of Potsdam and has taught at the University of Virginia, the University of Zurich, Bar Ilan University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, among other institutions.
