A four-week seminar series exploring the history of Jewish life in the Near and Middle East from the time of Muhammad to the State of Israel. Taught by Dr. Alan Verskin of the University of Rhode Island.

Enrollment for all four weeks is required. More information including a course schedule and readings will be posted here in February.

Alan Verskin

Alan Verskin has taught at Macalester College, Columbia University, and the University of Rhode Island, where he is an associate professor of Jewish and Islamic History. He is very active in informal Jewish education and teaches in Hebrew College’s Me’ah Program. His latest book is A Vision of Yemen: The Travels of a European Orientalist and His Native Guide (Stanford University Press, 2018).
