Katharina Galor 

Brown University

Katharina Galor is an art historian and archaeologist specializing in the visual and material culture of Israel-Palestine. She has excavated in France, Italy, and at various sites in Israel. She has taught at the Hebrew University, the École biblique et archéologique française in Jerusalem, at Tufts University, at RISD in the US, and most recently at Humboldt University in Berlin. She is currently the Hirschfeld Senior Lecturer in Judaic Studies at Brown University. Her current research focusing on music in Avignon and the Comtat Venaissin at the time of papal rule (thirteenth through eighteenth centuries), with a focus on gender and sexuality, builds on her forthcoming book Jewish Women: Between Conformity and Agency (Routledge, 2024).
