This three-day retreat invites Katz Center colleagues to explore a constellation of questions about the expansion and future of American Jewish studies that we have seen emerge throughout the 2020–21 fellowship year. We will anchor our conversations with a series of thematic discussions linked to questions of race, historiography, engaged scholarship, and potential new directions in the field. We will also challenge participants to bring their insights to the crafting of new narratives through small group sessions that center an object of investigation (such as a text, an artifact, or an event), and map the diverse array of stories it suggests
