Penn's Jewish Studies Program
The Katz Center does not offer courses for credit at an undergraduate or graduate level. All courses in Jewish studies at the University of Pennsylvania take place within its Jewish Studies Program.
We are proud to work closely with the Jewish Studies Program to enrich the academic environment for Penn students. Some fellows serve as visiting Penn faculty; others offer informal talks, engage students at Hillel, or appear as guest lecturers in existing courses.
In addition, we partner with Penn's Jewish Studies Program and other centers and departments to bring high-quality lectures in Jewish studies to Penn campus, open to the entire community.
Graduate Students at the Katz Center
The Katz Center invests in the future of the field by facilitating meaningful interaction between senior scholars and aspiring ones.
Graduate students in related fields from Penn and area universities are frequent and welcome guests at the weekly Ruth Meltzer Seminar, and take advantage of the networking and mentorship opportunities created by the presence of our fellows.
Advanced Summer School for Graduate Students in Jewish Studies
The Katz Center and the Mandel School for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem offer an annual week-long intensive course for graduate students. This collaborative program takes place in Philadelphia and Jerusalem in alternate years, under the joint directorship of Steven Weitzman and Elisheva Baumgarten.
