In the Jewish Poor House: Judaism and Poverty in Warsaw in the Late Nineteenth Century

Bio

Ela Bauer is an associate professor in the film and media and history departments at Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology, and the Arts. She researches the intellectual and cultural life of Polish Jewry in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as well as the history of the Jewish press. Her current research examines Polish Jewish intelligentsia groups in Warsaw and Lwów in the last decades of the nineteenth century.

Bauer received her PhD from New York University and has taught at Haifa University, UC Davis, and Tel Aviv University.
